Honoring Grandpa Schott

Chicago Police Department horses are mainly named after officers who have died in the line of duty. Families are welcome meet the horses, and now that Arthur is old enough to enjoy it, we decided to visit.

A slight typo on the stall door amused us all.
Schott the horse had no comment on the error.
"Hello Schott. We are also named Schott."
The officers were so kind. Even though Schott is enjoying some rest
due to a sore hoof, they took him out of his stall so we could say hello.
He is a truly lovely horse.
Arthur bonded with his Grandpa's horse.
The barn cats were also given love and attention.
The tack room was fun--so many items to grab off the walls!
As Schott was not ready to saddle up, Mahoney stepped in for
 Arthur's first time on horseback.
They went all the way out of the barn and next to the police car,
Arthur grinning all the way.

While Rob spoke with the officers, Arthur and I said hello
to the horses.
Some of the horses said hello back.
Arthur was very enthusiastic in his greetings.
Very very enthusiastic.
As if riding a horse wasn't enough, he got to "drive" the trailer!
Beep, beep!
Before Skip was loaded in the trailer to work at the Bears game,
Arthur hopped on--and borrowed a snazzy hat.
We cannot speak highly enough of the kind officers of the
CPD Mounted Patrol. We will certainly be back for another visit.
